La obra de infraestructura educativa, que ahora sobresale en medio del pequeño poblado rural del municipio de Planadas y entre las escarpadas montañas que la circundan, fue entregada a la comunidad ayer, 5 de noviembre, por el Gobierno de Ricardo Orozco Valero. En ella se invirtieron $14.000 millones; cuenta con un área total construida de 4.500 m2; alberga ambientes pedagógicos, dos aulas de preescolar, cinco de primaria, seis de secundaria, aulas complementarias, una biblioteca, aula de sistemas, un comedor escolar, baterías sanitarias, auditorio, bloque administrativo y áreas deportivas.
Los jóvenes en esta apartada región ya cuentan con una imponente y moderna estructura para adelantar su formación académica. Gobierno del Tolima invirtió $14.0000 millones en su construcción.

Esta frase de Orlando Velásquez, jefe de Educación del municipio de Planadas, la expresó para referirse al futuro que tendrá el nuevo Megacolegio de Bilbao. Con voz emocionada, el dirigente indígena de esta región – durante muchos años azotada por el miedo, la zozobra y la desesperanza – agregó: “Este es un día muy especial para nosotros. Tenemos muchas proyecciones con este megacolegio. Queremos que se convierta en una universidad para que todos los jóvenes se eduquen en este corregimiento de Bilbao”.

Jhon Jairo Hueje, alcalde de Planadas, hizo las cuentas de cuánto le habría tocado invertir a su administración, en tiempo y dinero, para culminar una infraestructura de esta naturaleza: “Al municipio de Planadas le llegan, anualmente, por concepto del Sistema General de Participaciones $500 millones. Quiere decir, que un alcalde juicioso, sin invertir nada en educación, podría recoger $2.000 millones durante su periodo de cuatro años. Entonces, para poder construir una estructura de esta magnitud, deberán pasar siete alcaldes que sólo dediquen recursos a una obra como esta de $14.000 millones. Fácilmente, podrían pasar 28 años. Por eso debemos valorar esta nueva institución”, explicó Hueje.
El mandatario planaduno agregó que, “la visión más importante es la del desarrollo humano. No podemos transformar nuestra región como un territorio en paz, si nó podemos heredarle a nuestros jóvenes una oportunidad de educación clara. Entre otras, esta fue una de las razones que tuve para acercarme a su equipo, Gobernador. En mi casa dicen que el amor se hace con acciones y yo no puedo decirle a un territorio que lo quiero si no hay acciones concretas. Esta es una muestra clara del afecto por nuestra región”.
“Al menos tres universidades ya mostraron interés de establecerse allí con programas de formación superior”: Secretario de Educación y Cultura del Tolima.
Julián Fernando Gómez Rojas, secretario de Educación y Cultura del Tolima, sostuvo que, ahora, el siguiente paso es avanzar hacia la jornada única presencial, a partir del próximo año. “Será en articulación con el SENA, para que los estudiantes complementen con deportes y con el énfasis en sistemas que están requiriendo los jóvenes”; precisó.
El jefe de la cartera educativa en el Tolima expresó que ya adelantó mesas de trabajo con las directivas de la Universidad del Tolima, el Instituto Tolimense de Formación Técnica Profesional ITFIP y la Universidad Minuto de Dios para que puedan ofrecer sus programas académicos y los jóvenes puedan formarse aquí mismo para la productividad. “Si los jóvenes quisieran estudiar en la U.T. ya se podría abrir el programa tecnológico en Forestal y el ITFIP está en disposición de ofrecer Contaduría o Administración de Empresas. La Uniminuto también está lista para ofrecer programas técnicos para el trabajo como turismo, barismo y fincas cafeteras; entre otros”; destacó Gómez Rojas.
Así mismo, el secretario de Educación y Cultura agregó que, en pocos días, en asocio con la Uniminuto, hará un estudio de mercados con los estudiantes de esta región para que ellos determinen cuáles son los programas educativos que quieren cursar y, cuales de estos pueden ofrecer las universidades con las que ya se ha adelantado conversaciones y que están en disposición de llegar al Megacolegio de Bilbao.
